Take me back to the past. The time when I was free and away from troubles. Travelling to many countries around the world meant so much to me more than anything else.
I am an avid traveller since young and travelling is my way of escaping reality. Perhaps that is why I like travelling on my own now, because I was brought up with the love to discover and experience something new. I always looked forward to packing my luggage for every trip, getting ready to leave reality behind.
What if everyone could travel the world as they please? What if we don’t need a visa or air tickets to travel? What if each and every one of us is a citizen of the world? Life would be pretty amazing for a traveler.
Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved travelling – be it by car, ferry, coach or an airplane. It was the only time when I can challenge myself to quickly adapt to a different environment besides a concrete jungle. It wouldn’t hurt to take a few days break from the fast-paced life in Singapore and relax a little. You’ll be surprised by the things you could learn about yourself while you’re overseas.
Like everyone, for most of the (almost) 19 years I’ve lived, I have been searching for a purpose in my life. I knew that somehow, in order to do so, I had to be in an extremely difficult situation that would stretch me to my wits’ ends – just so I could find out what I’m capable of.
So when the opportunity presented itself, I jumped at it. Said opportunity came in the form of an overseas community involvement project, teaching conversational English to youths in Cambodia for a period of 14 days.
Being a teenager, living in this fast-paced era, we are bound to get all stressed up. We cannot live everyday doing the same routine. Working or going to school in the morning and reaching home only when the sky is dark. Is that how our generation will continue to live?
Travelling. The thought of it makes everyone’s minds wander to their perfect dream destinations from all over the world. To me, travelling is an escape from the reality. It is almost everyone’s passion and interest, and some would even consider it as a need.
