By Daryl I never thought I’d ever write about my least favourite season of all - summer. The blistering heat has never worked for me; getting things done always becomes more chore-like; the blistering heat (it needed more emphasis). I had often envied the three month holiday break that kids in school 10,000 miles away got to enjoy, and then some. |
The sunny season was also glorified on TV and movies, where people, young and old, would go out to the beach, or go out skating, or to the mall. If only if were that perfect over here! Despite all that, it was kind of nice to still get out in the sun and enjoy the fresh air that was always welcoming enough.
Maybe it was because there was less global warming, but I remember summer a decade ago was a lot less hot than it is now. Nevertheless, I used to always get by, tuned in to a radio station with a glass of ice cold Ribena at my side (cos lemonade was too mainstream), bopping and jiving along to the catchy tunes and jingles that were popular on air then.
So I thought I’d muster up a nice little mixtape (I’m sassy and pretentiously hipster, sue me) with a little blast to the past that I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I did! Consisting of a nice mix of surf rock, indie, folk, and alternative rock, it’s the perfect companion wherever you go, be it alone at home on a nice quiet afternoon, or out in the sun playing and soaking up a tan.
